Intro to Weight Training
Learn where to start and build strength with confidence.
If you know you should be lifting weights—but feel intimidated by the gym, unsure of what to do, or simply don't know where to start—this class is for you.
Intro to Weight Training is an approachable introduction to strength training at Pvolve Barrington, designed for women who want to build strength for aging, longevity, hormonal changes, and overall health without feeling overwhelmed.
You'll learn the fundamentals of lifting weights in a supportive, welcoming environment, with a focus on proper form, controlled movement, and building confidence with resistance training.
You don't need to be a weight lifter to get started.
As we move through different stages of life, maintaining and building muscle becomes increasingly important. Strength training can support muscle strength, bone health, mobility, balance, and the ability to stay active and independent as we age.
But knowing that you should lift weights and actually knowing how to start are two very different things.
This class takes the intimidation out of the equation.
What to expect
We'll introduce you to the fundamentals of weight training, including:
How to choose and use weights appropriately
Foundational strength-training movements
Proper form and technique
How to move safely and confidently
How to understand resistance and progression
How strength training can fit into your overall fitness routine
You'll work at your own level, with options to modify movements and weights as needed.
No previous weight-training experience is required.
