FAQS

Contrast Therapy: Cold Plunge and Infrared Sauna

  • We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to sign in, explore the studio and to prepare for your session.

    Be sure to stay hydrated before and after your session. A water fountain is available on site and we also sell water for your convenience.

    We recommend a bathing suit or similar for the cold plunge and sauna.

    A shower and towels are available on site.

  • We maintain a water temperature of 52 degrees but when booking you can include a note on preferred temperature and we will do our best to accommodate.

  • Contrast therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. The ideal frequency depends on your goals, training load, and how your body responds.

    Recent scientific studies have shown that 11 minutes of cold exposure per week can deliver meaningful physiological effects, especially when spread across multiple sessions. Similarly, accumulating roughly 60 minutes of heat exposure per week has been shown to help support circulation, recovery, and overall wellness. These targets have been discussed in relation to contrast methods by biohacking and physiology researchers like Dr. Susanna Søberg.

    Contrast therapy delivers the most benefit when it’s consistent rather than sporadic, and when the session timing and intensity match your personal goals and recovery needs.

    Within each session, we provide suggested protocols based on your personal goals.

  • Our contrast suite is a private room fitted with an in-room shower, towels and amenities.

    For those that want to experience a social experience with a friend or partner, our private suite can accommodate up to four people and is available for group booking.

  • It is always recommended to consult your doctor before use if you are unsure about your condition prior to booking.

    You may not be eligible to engage in use of the sauna or cold plunge if you have one or more of the following health conditions:

    • Uncontrolled hypertension;

    • Severe cardiovascular or respiratory disease;

    • Raynaud’s disease;

    • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or clotting disorders;

    • Pregnancy;

    • Skin infections or open wounds; and

    • Cold allergies or severe anemia.
